Historic First With International Visibility

In 2021, Megan Rohrer became the first openly transgender bishop elected to a major U.S. Christian denomination— an internationally recognized milestone in LGBTQ+ religious history.

Executive Leadership Across a Large, Geographically Diverse Organization

As bishop, Megan carried responsibility for leading 160 congregations across two states, clergy, communities and competing priorities during an exceptionally complicated period for religious institutions.

Navigated Intense Public Scrutiny and Institutional Complexity

Historic leadership also brought extraordinary scrutiny and difficult institutional conflict. The experience deepened Megan's understanding of accountability, organizational culture, resilience and the human consequences of leadership decisions.

Decades of Leadership in Non-Profits, Congregations, Congreagtions and Community Organizations

The episcopal office was one chapter in a much longer career that has included homelessness services, public policy, education, chaplaincy, historical preservation and community leadership.

Continued Public Service After Leaving Office

Rather than allowing one leadership chapter to define what came next, Megan returned his focus to the work that has consistently shaped his career: serving vulnerable communities, teaching, creating and expanding whose stories are remembered.
